Selander has previously worked with Palestine, and in If We Were to Die she approaches Gaza by re-filming images from social media. Using an older analogue film camera, she lifts them out of the media flow, giving them presence—a body, an index, and a sense of care through the film strip. Here we see a child talking to their cat in a film about closeness, death, and hope.
